It's Time to STEP it UP a Notch

I have decided to step it up a notch in my fight against high blood pressure. I did some research on the internet on recommended steps to lower High Blood Pressure (HBP). It does pay to be informed. Apart from losing weight, research has also shown that potassium does lower HBP. So I'm taking proactive steps to up my potassium intake.
-------
My diet will incorporate foods that are high in potassium. The last thing I want to do is force myself to eat something I dislike (even if it is high in potassium) because this action plan is for the long haul and forcing myself to eat what I dislike might temp me to quit altogether. The list:
  1. Bananas
  2. Plain Yogurt
  3. Low Fat Milk
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Raisins
  6. Baked Potatoes (with skin)
  7. Honey Dew/ Cantaloupe
  8. Lima Beans

-------

I'm trying to go natural as much as possible, instead of popping pills but I'm trying to strike a balance as well. For example, baked potatoes with the skin on contains very high amounts of potassium but at the same time, it is not wise to eat too many because it is high in calories and losing weight is part of my master plan to lower my HBP as well - that's where the pills come in.

-------

In comparison, each pill contains 99mg of potassium BUT each baked potato contains more than 1000mg of potassium.

See my dilemma?

-------

Anyway. I'll keep on monitoring my HBP weekly and see how things go. Results are looking good thus far. This will be a step forward. I feel a little weird though... because before the whole issue of my HBP, I used to soak my feet in a pail of potassium laced water as part of my treatment for athlete's foot.

I need to tell myself repeatedly that potassium does not taste like feet!
